ABA Therapy in South Carolina
NoCal Behavioral Services (NCBS) provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children, teens and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities across South Carolina. Our services are available in the home, in the community and in school settings, so support follows your family wherever it’s needed most.
ABA Services Available in South Carolina
South Carolina families can access all of our core services: in home ABA therapy, in community ABA therapy, and in school ABA therapy and support. Every family also receives complimentary case management to help coordinate care across healthcare, school and social systems.
How Services Work
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) creates a Treatment Plan built around your family’s goals, which is submitted to your insurance for approval. Once approved, your team of BCBA and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) begins services, with the BCBA providing ongoing supervision and updating the plan every six months based on your child’s progress. If you come across an unfamiliar term along the way, our Terms to Know page can help.
South Carolina’s Autism Insurance Law: Ryan’s Law
South Carolina was one of the earlier states in the nation to pass an autism-specific insurance mandate, Ryan’s Law, in 2007. It requires most state-regulated group plans from employers with 51 or more employees to provide at least $50,000 per year in coverage for behavioral therapy, including ABA, generally for children diagnosed by age 8 through age 16. South Carolina Healthy Connections (Medicaid) also has a process for covering medically necessary ABA services, and in many cases the usual age and duration limits don’t apply, so it’s worth exploring even if a family doesn’t have qualifying private insurance.
Supporting Military Families
South Carolina is home to a strong military community, including families stationed at Fort Jackson and Joint Base Charleston, and many of the families we serve here work with TriCare. If you receive orders to relocate, our case managers help build a team in your new location and, if we’re unable to serve that area directly, help you find another provider so your child’s care continues without interruption. Our Relocation Process page has more on how that transition works.
Insurance We Accept
Along with South Carolina’s insurance protections above, we’re in network with TriCare (East and West), UHC (Optum), Premera Blue Cross (Anthem), and CHAMPVA, and we accept private pay as well. If your plan isn’t listed, we may still be able to help through a Single Case Agreement, and if we’re unable to provide services in your specific area, we’re happy to help your family find other providers.
