In-Home ABA Therapy
NCBS contracts with private insurance companies to provide professional behavioral consultation to infants, young children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other developmental disabilities in home-based programs. Through evidence-based, pragmatic treatment, consultation and teaching, based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), we provide families the opportunity to improve the independence, inclusion and overall quality of life of their special needs children.
How In-Home Services Work
Once your family is ready to begin, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) meets with you to create a Treatment Plan built around your family’s goals for your child. It typically takes 2-3 weeks to write the Treatment Plan after that initial meeting, and the plan is then submitted to TriCare for approval, which usually takes 7-10 business days.
Once approved, we build a dedicated team for your family consisting of your BCBA and one or two Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), depending on the BCBA’s recommendations. RBTs implement the Treatment Plan in your home under the ongoing supervision of the BCBA, who visits regularly to supervise sessions and meet with your family about your child’s progress. Typical sessions occur several times a week and last around three hours each. Every six months, the BCBA reviews and updates the Treatment Plan to reflect your child’s progress.
You Have a Voice in the Plan
At NoCal Behavioral Services, we work hard to make sure you have an integral part in creating the plan for your child. Your BCBA considers your family’s goals and the specific areas you’d like to address before writing the Treatment Plan, and you can always ask for additional support in certain areas as treatment continues. Our BCBAs also hold monthly family meetings, one with your child present and one without, to answer any questions in a more personalized setting.

We’re in-network with TriCare (East and West), UHC (Optum), Premera Blue Cross (Anthem), and CHAMPVA for in-home ABA therapy, and we accept private pay as well. If your plan isn’t listed, we may still be able to help through a Single Case Agreement, and if we’re ever unable to provide services directly, we’re happy to help your family find other providers in your area.

In-Community ABA Therapy
NCBS provides ABA services no matter where the support is needed. Our goal is to help provide support where problem behaviors occur and where skills need to be performed. We work with families to address their needs in a variety of environments. Whether a family wants support with going to stores, going out for dinner, or interacting appropriately in social situations, we address all these issues at NCBS. As with our other services, NCBS contracts with private insurance companies and TriCare to provide this professional behavioral consultation to infants, young children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other developmental disabilities.
Why In-Community Services Matter
In-community services are one of three settings we offer alongside in-home and in-school ABA therapy, because we believe behavior is best addressed in the environment where it actually occurs. If your child struggles most out in public, such as during errands, at restaurants, or during social outings, our team can work directly in those settings rather than only at home or in a clinic.
How In-Community Services Work
As with all of our services, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) creates a Treatment Plan built around your family’s goals, which is then submitted to TriCare for approval. Once approved, your team of BCBA and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) implements the plan directly in community settings, with the BCBA providing ongoing supervision and regular check-ins with your family. Every six months, the BCBA reviews and updates the plan based on your child’s progress.
We work hard to make sure your family has a voice in that plan. Your BCBA considers your goals and the specific situations you’d like help with before writing it, and our BCBAs hold monthly family meetings, one with your child present and one without, to answer questions along the way.

In-School ABA Therapy & Support
Our skilled team at NCBS provides ABA services in public and private school settings (as permitted by insurance provider) to address generalization of skills learned in the home setting. We work collaboratively with teachers, school staff and families to develop behavior intervention plans and effective systems of reinforcement that help each child achieve meaningful objectives in the classroom. Applied Behavior Analysis is focused on increasing maintenance, generalization and independence, and in-school services are where that generalization work often matters most, since the classroom is where many of the skills learned at home are put into practice.
What In-School Services Include
Because we believe behavior is best supported in the environment where it happens, our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) can work with your child in class, in the lunchroom, during recess, and in other school settings, under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The goal is to help your child generalize the skills they’re learning at home into the school day, and to build consistency between the strategies used at home and the strategies used at school.
What In-School Services Do Not Include
It’s important for families to understand the scope of these services: we cannot work on educational goals, such as anything outlined in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or academic tutoring. Instead, our focus stays on appropriate behaviors during the school day. Due to TriCare regulations, we’re also unable to attend IEP meetings on your behalf, though your BCBA is happy to offer suggestions on how to navigate the meeting, and we request a copy of the IEP to keep on file, since TriCare requires this as well.

Once approved, we build your child’s team of BCBA and RBTs and begin services, with the BCBA visiting to provide supervision and updating the plan every six months based on your child’s progress. ABA Case Management Services
Many of the families we serve work with a dynamic team of supports and specialists, so we place a strong emphasis on coordination of care, which we achieve through our professional case management services.
Our team of dedicated case managers specialize in assisting families to navigate the complicated web of healthcare, school and social systems to obtain the greatest opportunities for the unique needs of their children. If paperwork is missing, we track it down. If authorizations are required, we complete them. We communicate with all members of the team and specialize in follow through.
Our Case Managers are dedicated to staying with families through the course of their treatment. In addition, we facilitate the continuation of services for families who relocate, wherever they go, so they never have to “start all over again” explaining their case to someone new.
Case Management from Day One
Case management begins as soon as your family starts the intake process. A typical timeline between intake and your child’s initial assessment is around two to three weeks, depending on your BCBA’s availability and your family’s schedule. From there, your case manager works alongside your BCBA so that paperwork, authorizations and communication between everyone on your child’s support team are handled proactively rather than left to your family to manage alone.
Supporting Military Families Through Relocation
Because many of the families we serve are military families working with TriCare, we know that relocation is often part of the journey. If you receive orders to a new location, let us know as soon as possible so your case manager can begin building a team in your new area. If we’re unable to provide services directly in your new location, we’ll help you find other providers to continue your child’s care. As part of that transition, your BCBA prepares a Discharge Report summarizing your child’s progress and recommended future goals, which is submitted to TriCare, and we’re happy to provide copies of all Treatment Plans to your family or to any new ABA provider you work with.

Case Management services are provided to every family we serve in an effort to engage, support and integrate families into treatment, in addition to facilitating communication among the child’s support team. This reflects our broader non-negotiables: a humanistic approach that puts people over profits and prioritizes the dignity of every family we work with.
Fees
Case Management is a complimentary component of all ABA therapy services provided by NoCal Behavioral Services.
